What about donating my electronic assets? |
Donation programs can work well if all involved parties understand the limits and liabilities associated with the transfer of equipment. Questions such as, 'Who will ensure that proprietary data is eliminated before the donation?': need to be answered prior to ownership transfer. The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1993, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and many others make all companies and organizational entities legally responsible for the protection of client privacy. Failure to effectively destroy all informational data prior to the transfer of ownership leaves an organization open to corporate liability. Corona Vision's Data Destruction process helps eliminate the worry of such a risk.

Why does it cost money to recycle electronics? |
These fees ensure that what you are recycling is handled responsibly and complies with government regulations. Materials such as antimony, arsenic, lead, and mercury used to manufacture electronics are unhealthy to us. If not recycled properly, e-waste ends up in the environment making the toxic materials to end up in our bodies and cause major issues including lung damage, cancer, and seizures. Water is poisoned, air turns toxic, soil becomes dead, and wildlife and plant life suffer.
To avoid these harmful effects on both our bodies and our environment, creditable electronic recycling companies provide outlets for responsible disposal of your old electronics. Some electronic recycling companies lower their costs by exporting e-waste to countries like Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, India, and China where it gets broken down by men, women, and children who are unprotected from the toxins. To comply with government regulations and environmental laws, electronic recycling companies are resorted to charging fees to properly break down hazardous electronics. The Electronics Take back Coalition gives consumers tips on how to spot fake recycling company. They recommend finding out who is paying for the recycling cost, especially if there is no request for a small recycling fee. |
What documentation is provided to ensure me that everything is done correctly? |
For each shipment we provide a recycling documentation manifest when requested. This manifest includes a list of all equipment received detailing equipment class, manufacturer, model, serial number, and asset tag (if present). In addition, we track all manifested items received from our customers and record the final disposition and services performed on each item.

What products can be made from the material recovered by recycling electronics and cell phones? |
In general, as much as 99% of all materials from electronics are reused in a different capacity of sold. The majority of these materials are used for new electronic items because some of the material, such as the plastic, is already the right grade for electronic devices.
The material from electronics can be used for other products, such as plastic components that are used in the manufacturing of lighters or wood composites. Almost all of the materials used to manufacture a cell phone can be recovered to make new products. Metals, plastics, and rechargeable batteries from recycled cell phones are turned into new materials and products. Cell phones contain a number of different metals- gold, silver, platinum, palladium, copper, tin, and zinc- that are recovered in the recycling process. The recovered metals are then used by a number of different industries such as jewelry, plating, electronics, automotive, and art foundries. |
