The E-Waste definition is unclear but is considered unwanted electronics and applied to discarded computers, office equipment, entertainment devices, mobile phones, television sets, refrigerators, video cassette players, etc.
The working or repairable electronics are defined as re-usable. The secondary scraps: copper, steel, plastic, glass, etc are considered waste that is dumped by the consumer rather than recycled.
Some of the electronic products contain materials that are hazardous. One of the hardest elements of e-waste to recycle are Cathode ray (CRTs) tubes in TVs and computer monitors.
CRTs have high concentration of lead and phosphorous and are considered to be hazardous household waste by the EPA, United States Environmental Protection Agency.
